You can call Anaheim a “Mickey Mouse” city, and no one will take offense. Since orange groves gave way to The Magic Kingdom of Disneyland in 1955, it’s been one of America’s top tourist destinations. It’s the second most populous city in Orange County (behind Santa Ana) and second largest in terms of land area, and besides Disneyland, it’s known for championship sports teams and as one of the top convention cities in the U.S.

Anaheim's largest and most important industry is tourism. Its Anaheim Convention Center is home to many national conferences, and the Walt Disney Company is by far the city's largest employer. Many hotels, especially in the city's Resort district, serve theme park tourists and convention goers.

During the large expansion of the Disneyland resort and the building of Disney’s California Adventure in the 1990s, the city of Anaheim designated the area around the parks the Anaheim Resort. It includes the Disneyland Resort, the Anaheim Convention Center, the Honda Center--home of the NHL Anaheim Ducks, and Angel Stadium, home to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Anaheim's city limits stretch from Cypress in the west to the Riverside County line in the East, and encompass a diverse collection of neighborhoods and communities. Anaheim Hills is a highly wealthy master-planned community that is home to many sports stars and executives. West Anaheim is notable for its more mature neighborhoods dating from the 1950s, which comprise part of the continuous suburban sprawl extending from Los Angeles.

The Platinum Triangle, a neo-urban redevelopment district surrounding Angel Stadium, will soon be populated with mixed-use streets and high-rises. The Colonial District has a number of older, restored homes that date from the beginnings of the city. Finally, The Canyon is an industrial district north of the Riverside Freeway and east of the Orange Freeway.

Several notable corporations have offices in Anaheim. Banco Popular, a bank based in Puerto Rico, has one of their North American headquarters in Anaheim.

One of Anaheim’s “selling points” is its accessibility. Interstate 5 runs directly through the city; the 22 Freeway forms part of its southern border, the 57 Freeway runs along the eastern border and serves Angels Stadium and the Honda Center. The 91 Freeway runs along the cities northern edge. The Anaheim Train Station is conveniently located next to the ballpark and is served by Amtrak and Metrolink trains.
