home buyersGarden Grove, as its name implies, was once a major farming area in Orange County, but today its one of the best places to buy an affordable home for a growing family.

Garden Grove extends in a mostly East-West pattern along the 22 Freeway, the Garden Grove Freeway. The city is probably best known outside Orange County as being the home of the Crystal Cathedral and its weekly religious TV broadcasts. The Tower of Hope, topped by a large cross is visible from much of Orange County. The Cathedral is host to two major annual pageants, The Glory of Christmas and The Glory of Easter.

The city celebrates its agricultural roots each Memorial Day weekend with the Strawberry Festival, one of the largest community fairs in the western US, but today, the city is built out with housing and commercial development, with around 175,000 calling Garden Grove home. Its now the fourth largest city in population in the county.

Garden Grove is home to three stage theaters, the Garden Grove Playhouse, Gem Theater and the Festival Amphitheater. The Amphitheater hosts Shakespeare Orange County, which presents an annual Shakespeare Festival each summer.

While primarily a bedroom community, a large industrial park area just east of Knott Avenue provides a number of jobs within the city. Several major hotels that serve the Disneyland and Anaheim Convention Center area, such as the Hyatt Orange County, are actually located in Garden Grove.

Garden Grove has become known in recent years for its “Little Saigon” area, where many Vietnamese live. After the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, several high officials of the former South Vietnam government settled in this area, and many others followed.

Within the city of Garden Grove is the neighborhood of West Garden Grove, which extends roughly from Knott Avenue to the western boundary of Garden Grove. West Garden Grove is predominantly single family homes and the area is noticeably more affluent than other parts of the city.

Garden Grove is served by the Garden Grove School district, including 2 high schools. Cal State Fullerton has a satellite campus in the city as well.
